Paeonia daurica subsp. mlokosewitschii, Molly the Witch species peony

$ 45

Paeonia daurica subsp. mlokosewitschii

One of the most sought after herbaceous peonies of all time. This beautiful plant emerges with bronze shoots ("snouts" in the words of Gertrude Jekyll) in early April which unfurl to gorgeous blue green matte foliage. Buttercup yellow blooms follow early in the peony season (usually right around Mother's Day at our nursery). Needs relitivly rich, well drained soil. Part shade to full sun. In the full sun, the foliage declines by late summer.

Our original "mother" plants are of garden origin, as far as we know they were not grown from wild collected seed. The seedlings offered for sale here are grown from seed collected from our plants.

These seedlings should bloom in 2-3 years after under good care.

Expect these woodland herbaceous peonies to grow to grow about 2' tall and 3 ft. wide after a decade. Flower size is about 2".

Plant size: 2 year old field grown seedling

When we ship: FALL 2024
