Notable characteristics: Single, cup shaped, glossy blooms in the deepest shade of crimson. Flowers are held up well. No support necessary. Foliage is similar to P. officinalis. Very early blooming.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Hybrid, Glasscock, 1937
Growth habit and size at maturity : Upright and spreading, grows to 2' tall and 2.5' wide. Excellent dark green foliage.
Flower form and size: Single form, to 4-5".
Flower fragrance: Light, sweet.
Bloom time: Early season hybrid herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the third week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: Field grown bare root, 4-5 'eye' plant.
