Paeonia, 'Happy Days' hybrid tree peony
Notable characteristics: It's hard to categorize the color of these flowers, opening as a reddish-pink-yellow, suffused with ivory, all we know for sure is that it is stunning! Colors lighten as the flower ages. Highly recommended, easy to grow.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Lutea hybrid, A.P. Saunders, 1948.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and slightly spreading, grows to 3' tall and 3' wide.
Flower form and size: Perfectly formed semi-double blossoms, 6-7". Flowers held upright and to the side.
Flower fragrance: Light, sweet, and slightly lemon.
Bloom time: Late-season hybrid tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem, with offshoot buds, and a well developed root system. This one may bloom its first spring in the ground, or will wait until the second spring. Very limited stock, order early.
